Another day...

If you're one of those kind souls who are keeping up to date with my new site, you'll have noticed some changes and an explanation seems due. First, we've separated our guitar section and given it its own identity and website – from now on you can find it at https://guitar-art.co.uk. As well as an expanded catalogue of guitars, we've included sound files for each of the instruments. That means you can compare the sounds of one instrument with any of the others available for sale.  We thought long and hard about including this feature before changing the site. The main reason is that the sounds produced by all electric or electro-acoustic guitars can be modified by amplifiers, pedals and all kinds of electronic wizardry, so how representative of the instrument could our examples be? In the end, we decided to record the tones, raw and unedited, direct from the pickup – played by a typical buyer, not a professional musician. I'm sure you've visited enough websites ...

'What's in a name?' they say. In these days of the internet, the answer seems to be 'everything', so let me explain the name of my new website.  I'm Niki B. In fact, I've been Niki B since I went to art college and the name's sort of stuck. Today it's how I'm known in the art world. But not the only Niki B, as I found out when I decided to launch myself into webspace. So I took some advice. 'Above all,'  I was told by the experts I consulted, 'the  website name should explain what it's about'. The name should also be as short as possible they said because the shorter the name the less likely it is to mistype. And it should be memorable, though that seemed fairly obvious, I thought. The name 'artefact' came to mind after all the possible variations of 'Mixed-Media Art Emporium' had been rejected because I remembered it as the buzzword one of my college tutors used.
